“Daring Descents” Old Ski Movie Night

The 1932 Lake Placid Olympics inspired great interest in Winter Sports, especially skiing.  This edition of “Old Ski Movie Night,” brought to you by the North Creek Depot Museum, will feature ski films from the 1930s in the Gore Mountain Region.  Videos to be shown include “The First Snow Train,” “Ride Up/Slide Down,” and “Cloud Trail.” The videos show what skiing was like using early equipment on ungroomed trails like Rabbit Pond, Halfway Brook, and Pete Gay. The impact of early ski pioneers from North Creek and beyond will also be featured.

Proceeds from this event will help support operating expenses at the Depot Museum.  The museum focuses on several aspects of local history including the history of skiing in the Greater Gore Region, the “Adirondac” Railroad and its effect on the region, the story of Theodore Roosevelt’s “Midnight Ride to the Presidency,” and D&H Railroad history.
